Kilkenny, Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough

Wow. All I can say. The scenery was spectacular all day.

A bit of a ride to the first photo op, but it was just past Hollywood and into the area where P.S. I Love You, Braveheart, Stag and several other movies were made. (Full list of movies – Click Here)

The mountains were filled with goats – which our driver had to slow down to avoid several times.

We then went to Kilkenny, took a tram tour of the city, had a nice lunch at a pub on the main drag and them toured the castle (no pictures allowed!). The we were off to Glendalough, a medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by  St Kevin, a hermit priest and partly destroyed in 1398 by English troops.

We walked the 1.4 kilometers to the upper lake – where the vista’s again were quite marvelous.

Below are a elect set of pictures from the journey.
